How do formula one test tracks work. do teams have to pay to use them. is ferrari the only one with their own?

i am trying to understand formula one and am confused about test tracks. is the test driver's job just to test the cars and feed comments into its development, or does the test driver do more. does ferrari have an advantage over all of the other teams in that it has its own test track and so does not have to pay. do teams have to pay to use test tracks. does anyone else have their own test tracks. what stops teams clubbing together to build their own test track|||Every new bit the factory produces has to be tested on the track for performance and reliability.

That is the job of the test driver.

He's also there in case a driver fails to compete in a GP for whatever reason(illness, injury etc) as a reserve driver.

Running an F1 team and running a race track are two different businesses.

And since teams need to test their cars in a variety of conditions no one track can be as useful as testing on different tracks.

So it's risk-free and more productive to them than building one of their own.

Also teams are based on different countries and how close the factory is to the race track matters a lot.

Ferrari do own a track but they're also a sports car manufacturer and they use the track to test performance of their superfast road cars also.|||The drivers main job is just to report problems etc. But a good driver is listened to by the engineers. Bar Ferrari others do have to pay for usage of the test track. To build a test track would cost a considerable amount of money, so its cheaper to rent someone Else's.

Anyone has any ideas to land a job as a Ferrari crew member?

I've always being a Ferrari F1 fan for many years! I always feel like joining the Ferrari F1 team as a crew member whether as a pit-crew mechanic or some other positions everytime I tune in to catch the Ferrari F1 team in action! Any special requirements to land a job as a crew member? I don't mind starting from a low position as long as I can dedicate my services to my beloved Ferrari team!|||Well, most pit crew members are actually the engineers. They both develop the cars off the track and be in the action during race weekends. My suggestion is to get an automotive degree, work with other smaller independent Ferarri roadcar-racing teams and then apply for a position with Ferrari S.p.A, hoping your CV will land you in their Scuderia division.

That might get you there in 15 years time:-). Good luck!|||check this link its good

How do i turn a supra into a ferrari?

hi, i saw pictures of an NSX and a Supra with body kits that made them look like Ferraris. does anyone know where i can find a body kit that will turn my 1990 toyota supra into a ferrari. thanks.|||u have to look at all kinds of dif car shops its expensive i havnt seen ferrari kits iv seen corvet for supra not ferrari.|||purchase a ferarri

haha, any way you cant turn a supra into a ferarri literally.. magic is a load of crap, what you can do is buy a supra.. and then look for a ferarri body that you can mount the supra on, you may need a professional for this..

good luck!!|||the Phillipines, but it won't run exactly as fast as a ferrari|||you dont

i saw them on ebay for lambo but it really depends on you and were you go to and because your supra looks like a ferri dosnt mean it is and ifu switch insurcane i think they would charge you for a ferri just my opinoin|||LOl stop being a ricer.|||I have seen body kits as well... and for the Supra, you can't really make it look like a Ferrari. You can make it look like a Supra with ill fitting body panels that look like they might of come from some kind of cheap wannabe Ferrari though.

The NSX would probably be a better canidate since it's midengined and has at least the close to the right dimensions to be used as a kit for a Ferrari clone (308/328 being the style kits I've seen applied to the two you mention). Though, for the price of an NSX and the kit and a skilled bodyshop to do a good job, you could always just save some money buy a real 308 or 328.

How did people like Ford or Ferrari start their own company?

It's a crazy goal but I want start my own car company as a lifetime goal and I am only 18. I don't mind die trying.

I think you have to build a kit car but thats all I know

Advices also please like what should I be doing now or what should I major in college. Thanks|||Not only did Ford or Ferrari come in at the very beginning of the auto industry ... they helped start the industry.

If you look at the history of the car business, you'll see that very, very few people who came in at the middle of the business or when it was a maturing industry succeeded. And some of these people were industrial geniuses, like Henry J. Kaiser -- a truly great man and visionary. In fact, the latest company to try it, Tesla, may probably go out of business shortly.

Instead of trying to start your own car companny like Henry Ford, think of starting a car company in a niche -- a specialized branch of the auto business, like three-wheeled cars, all-electrics, diesels, single-person cars, cars on rails (like trolley cars).. You may not become a Henry Ford, but you can do very, very well.

|||its not practical. Also, the companies right now have such a history and strong holding that they will drive you out of business before you even start. Banks wont give you loans because they know they wont get their money back and how bad the economy is currently. Also if you have to ask, you have no idea what you are getting your self into.|||You have to go for the niche. In mass market your chances will be 1 in a million. You have to come up with a different idea and educate yourself in every aspect of building up that businness. It will not be easy but it can be done. Do not let anybody tell you otherwise.

My dad just won the lottery and wants to get his dream car, a ferrari 430 scuderia, can this dealer service it?

We live about 16 hours from a ferrari dealer, he wants to pick one up in toronto but he doesnt want to go back every year, but we have a mercedes benz dealer here, could they do the maintenance if needed?|||No, absolutely not. The Ferrari F430 needs the Ferrari SD scantool and the very specific and critical tools provided by Ferrari to their dealerships to correctly service the car. It needs to go to a FERRARI dealer, or otherwise a knowledgeable shop that has experience with a Ferrari that new.

It is NOT something a Mercedes dealer should work on, and in fact they will tell you the 430 needs to remain at the Ferrari dealer in Toronto.

My shop works on Ferraris. I would never let anyone who is not factory trained on a 430 and supplied with all the factory tools within ten feet of the car. It is both a dangerous and stupid idea. At best you will be paying dearly for the other shop's learning curve and at worst you could be killed, or the car damaged beyond repair.|||Its easy...pick up the phone, and call and ask them.|||That's a question for the mercedes dealer, most likely not.

Do you not have a phone?|||hell if he won the lottery just have his butler take it in|||no-no-NO/if you can afford a ferrari you can afford the trip|||Here is the problem.

Ferrari's cost $25,000 per year just to maintain and insure.

If you do not maintain it when you are supposed to, OR if you do not take it to a Ferrari dealership for all services, Ferrari will literally take the car back from you and they will not let you buy another new Ferrari.

This is just if you buy it from the Ferrari dealership.

If you buy a used Ferrari any a non-Ferrari dealership, you can maintain it whenever and whereever you want.|||Buying a Ferrari is not like buying a Ford you know. You have to be put on a list, and then when your name comes up, you then order it. Yes, a Ferrari has to be serviced at a Ferrari dealership. How would a Mercedes dealer have the knowledge, the tools, and the parts to work on one?

What are the companies that make Ferrari and Lambroghini automobiles?

I'm wantitng to invest in these companies but I don't know the company names. What are the stock symbols for them as well if you know please.|||Lamborghini is owned by the Volkswagen group (FWB: VOW), and

Ferrari is owned by Fiat (BIT: F, Pink Sheets: FIATY (ADR))

Can anyone find wallpaper of the Ferrari F430 Scuderia in black?

It must be black (not matt black), preferably with the grey alloys and stripes. To the person who procures the best results I will award 10 points. Now search, my pretties, search!|||It's kind of up in the air as far as colors of a Ferrari. Ferrari comes out with their official colors you can buy the car in and most customers choose one of Ferrari's colors due to higher resale value later on if they sell it. Or you can order a car from Ferrari in any color you want. Whether the Scuderia comes in black officially or if it's custom I don't know...

http://www.flickr.com/photos/25177654@N0鈥?/a>|||It doesnt come in black|||Your picky... if you like cars that look good with striped look up Viper
