How do formula one test tracks work. do teams have to pay to use them. is ferrari the only one with their own?

i am trying to understand formula one and am confused about test tracks. is the test driver's job just to test the cars and feed comments into its development, or does the test driver do more. does ferrari have an advantage over all of the other teams in that it has its own test track and so does not have to pay. do teams have to pay to use test tracks. does anyone else have their own test tracks. what stops teams clubbing together to build their own test track|||Every new bit the factory produces has to be tested on the track for performance and reliability.

That is the job of the test driver.

He's also there in case a driver fails to compete in a GP for whatever reason(illness, injury etc) as a reserve driver.

Running an F1 team and running a race track are two different businesses.

And since teams need to test their cars in a variety of conditions no one track can be as useful as testing on different tracks.

So it's risk-free and more productive to them than building one of their own.

Also teams are based on different countries and how close the factory is to the race track matters a lot.

Ferrari do own a track but they're also a sports car manufacturer and they use the track to test performance of their superfast road cars also.|||The drivers main job is just to report problems etc. But a good driver is listened to by the engineers. Bar Ferrari others do have to pay for usage of the test track. To build a test track would cost a considerable amount of money, so its cheaper to rent someone Else's.

Anyone has any ideas to land a job as a Ferrari crew member?

I've always being a Ferrari F1 fan for many years! I always feel like joining the Ferrari F1 team as a crew member whether as a pit-crew mechanic or some other positions everytime I tune in to catch the Ferrari F1 team in action! Any special requirements to land a job as a crew member? I don't mind starting from a low position as long as I can dedicate my services to my beloved Ferrari team!|||Well, most pit crew members are actually the engineers. They both develop the cars off the track and be in the action during race weekends. My suggestion is to get an automotive degree, work with other smaller independent Ferarri roadcar-racing teams and then apply for a position with Ferrari S.p.A, hoping your CV will land you in their Scuderia division.

That might get you there in 15 years time:-). Good luck!|||check this link its good

How do i turn a supra into a ferrari?

hi, i saw pictures of an NSX and a Supra with body kits that made them look like Ferraris. does anyone know where i can find a body kit that will turn my 1990 toyota supra into a ferrari. thanks.|||u have to look at all kinds of dif car shops its expensive i havnt seen ferrari kits iv seen corvet for supra not ferrari.|||purchase a ferarri

haha, any way you cant turn a supra into a ferarri literally.. magic is a load of crap, what you can do is buy a supra.. and then look for a ferarri body that you can mount the supra on, you may need a professional for this..

good luck!!|||the Phillipines, but it won't run exactly as fast as a ferrari|||you dont

i saw them on ebay for lambo but it really depends on you and were you go to and because your supra looks like a ferri dosnt mean it is and ifu switch insurcane i think they would charge you for a ferri just my opinoin|||LOl stop being a ricer.|||I have seen body kits as well... and for the Supra, you can't really make it look like a Ferrari. You can make it look like a Supra with ill fitting body panels that look like they might of come from some kind of cheap wannabe Ferrari though.

The NSX would probably be a better canidate since it's midengined and has at least the close to the right dimensions to be used as a kit for a Ferrari clone (308/328 being the style kits I've seen applied to the two you mention). Though, for the price of an NSX and the kit and a skilled bodyshop to do a good job, you could always just save some money buy a real 308 or 328.

How did people like Ford or Ferrari start their own company?

It's a crazy goal but I want start my own car company as a lifetime goal and I am only 18. I don't mind die trying.

I think you have to build a kit car but thats all I know

Advices also please like what should I be doing now or what should I major in college. Thanks|||Not only did Ford or Ferrari come in at the very beginning of the auto industry ... they helped start the industry.

If you look at the history of the car business, you'll see that very, very few people who came in at the middle of the business or when it was a maturing industry succeeded. And some of these people were industrial geniuses, like Henry J. Kaiser -- a truly great man and visionary. In fact, the latest company to try it, Tesla, may probably go out of business shortly.

Instead of trying to start your own car companny like Henry Ford, think of starting a car company in a niche -- a specialized branch of the auto business, like three-wheeled cars, all-electrics, diesels, single-person cars, cars on rails (like trolley cars).. You may not become a Henry Ford, but you can do very, very well.

|||its not practical. Also, the companies right now have such a history and strong holding that they will drive you out of business before you even start. Banks wont give you loans because they know they wont get their money back and how bad the economy is currently. Also if you have to ask, you have no idea what you are getting your self into.|||You have to go for the niche. In mass market your chances will be 1 in a million. You have to come up with a different idea and educate yourself in every aspect of building up that businness. It will not be easy but it can be done. Do not let anybody tell you otherwise.

My dad just won the lottery and wants to get his dream car, a ferrari 430 scuderia, can this dealer service it?

We live about 16 hours from a ferrari dealer, he wants to pick one up in toronto but he doesnt want to go back every year, but we have a mercedes benz dealer here, could they do the maintenance if needed?|||No, absolutely not. The Ferrari F430 needs the Ferrari SD scantool and the very specific and critical tools provided by Ferrari to their dealerships to correctly service the car. It needs to go to a FERRARI dealer, or otherwise a knowledgeable shop that has experience with a Ferrari that new.

It is NOT something a Mercedes dealer should work on, and in fact they will tell you the 430 needs to remain at the Ferrari dealer in Toronto.

My shop works on Ferraris. I would never let anyone who is not factory trained on a 430 and supplied with all the factory tools within ten feet of the car. It is both a dangerous and stupid idea. At best you will be paying dearly for the other shop's learning curve and at worst you could be killed, or the car damaged beyond repair.|||Its easy...pick up the phone, and call and ask them.|||That's a question for the mercedes dealer, most likely not.

Do you not have a phone?|||hell if he won the lottery just have his butler take it in|||no-no-NO/if you can afford a ferrari you can afford the trip|||Here is the problem.

Ferrari's cost $25,000 per year just to maintain and insure.

If you do not maintain it when you are supposed to, OR if you do not take it to a Ferrari dealership for all services, Ferrari will literally take the car back from you and they will not let you buy another new Ferrari.

This is just if you buy it from the Ferrari dealership.

If you buy a used Ferrari any a non-Ferrari dealership, you can maintain it whenever and whereever you want.|||Buying a Ferrari is not like buying a Ford you know. You have to be put on a list, and then when your name comes up, you then order it. Yes, a Ferrari has to be serviced at a Ferrari dealership. How would a Mercedes dealer have the knowledge, the tools, and the parts to work on one?

What are the companies that make Ferrari and Lambroghini automobiles?

It must be black (not matt black), preferably with the grey alloys and stripes. To the person who procures the best results I will award 10 points. Now search, my pretties, search!|||It's kind of up in the air as far as colors of a Ferrari. Ferrari comes out with their official colors you can buy the car in and most customers choose one of Ferrari's colors due to higher resale value later on if they sell it. Or you can order a car from Ferrari in any color you want. Whether the Scuderia comes in black officially or if it's custom I don't know...

I started going to a new school and I made some friends along the way and I found out one of the girls I started hanging out with dad owns a ferrari spider. It would be nice to be financially secure to the point that you never have to worry about money, but it by no means makes you a better or a worse person.

What are ther maintenece costs for a Ferrari or Lamborghini that is about 3 to 4 years old?

I am looking into buying a 2002 or so Ferrari and or Lambo and would like to know the maintenece costs for such a car. ( Oil changes, Tire rotations, etc.)|||This is truly an if you have to ask then you really can't afford it. It is real hard to give and estimate, If you are going to take it to the dealer then review their hourly rates. If you are going to take it to an import shop ask around as to who is the best. The best isn't always expensive. I charge the same competitive rates to all, it is in the pricing of the replacement parts that skyrockets the price. Since they are imported sometimes I have lambo's in the shop for a month waiting on a part...like a solenoid I just can't use the Autozone one as it doesn't fit the package, it will run 75 bucks just for a simple headlight relay because I have to order it fom a broker.|||my buddy has a gallardo and also a f430....both are beautiful cars and extremely fast. he is EXTREMELY wealthy and he told me that "the amount of money spent on maintaining these cars is RIDICULOUS" which im taking as TOO MUCH!!!|||yeah, if you have to ask then you can't afford it!|||As others have said, if you are concerned on the cost of ownership front, these are probably not cars you should be considering. I don't know what the Lamborghini service would run, though I imagine it would be similar to the Ferrari.

I've instructed at more than a few open track events, and have spent time talking with Ferrari owners about there cars (and on occassion enjoyed the wonderful experience of taking a few hot laps behind the wheel!). They are not inexpensive cars to own. Basic service would run in the $2-3k area, and major service would be in the $10k range.

Though that is honestly just the tip of the iceberg... you mention tire rotations? As most of these cars will use directional treads with wider rubber in the back, you do not rotate the tires. The tires used on a car like this are very soft and will not last long... if you drive the car even somewhat regularly, you may find you need to account for $3k as an annual tire budget. And because they are soft performance tires, when one wears out you tend to replace all four because you want to keep the grip levels similar at all corners.

And just think of the joy of driving it alot, when after you stomach the gas costs and costs of a few basic services a year, you discover an extra $12k for new brakes. There are alot of things you can do to keep the costs down with these cars, but they will never come close to being inexpensive.|||depends on which car from each company you are thinking of getting, but if you are actually rich enough to own these cars, then who cares about the maintenance cost

there is one Ferrari out there, it escapes me which one, but i heard that an oil change for it is the cost of buying 2 Lamborghinis(they didn't say which Lamborghini though)|||your right arm or left nut depending on the car

How do you think team Ferrari will do this year?

Their new car looks sick and the drivers are the same, do you think that Alonso and Massa can get the job done?|||Well the biggest good thing about the current Ferrari car is its superb reliability !!! The total race distance this year is about 6,100Km and number of testing miles by Ferrari is the highest and exceeds 6,100km!!

They seem reasonably quick. No one knows what fuel loads and what tyres each team were running at the tests so its extremely hard to picture where exactly teams are in the pecking order. But that said , Ferrari have been doing very very consistent race simulations with lap times not varying a lot. This is a strong sign that the car has a very good balance and is soft on the tyres . Being soft on the tyres is the key to success in this championship as the Pirelli tyres have high rates of degradation.

As to the drivers both are extremely capable and competitive . Alonso needless to say is lightning quick and Massa who was struggling last year has really picked up this season. Last year the front bridgestone tyres were relatively hard and did not suit Massa's style of driving. But the Pirelli tyres do seem to suit him and he set the fastest time of the entire second test at Barcelona!!

In short as long as Ferrari keep up with the development and their pace and reliability too, I think they'll have a very good chance at the Constructors championship. As to the drivers.. its too early to say anything !!!|||I think they will do well. Ferrari is usually very cautious about pre-season testing result but Alonso seems very positive and confident they are up to spec and can challenge for the title this year from the start of the season.|||I am a Ferrari fan and hoping they will have a strong year like they did in the second half of the 2010 season however going on last year, Redbull will be the team to beat like they were last year|||I think that Ferrari can have a good season, like also Redbull, Mercedes and McLaren.|||They'll be second I guess. Just behind Red Bull and faster then Mercedes/Renault. Then Mclaren. Then Sauber/Williams/Toro Rosso. Then Force India/Lotus. Then Virgin and far behind that HRT.|||From what I'm hearing, they are the best of the rest. RedBull appear to be the strongest.|||they will do better

Will Ferrari carry out their threat to quit F1 if a budget cap is put in place?

It's being reported that Ferrari have issued an ultimatum to the FIA saying that they will quit F1 if plans to put a 拢40m budget cap in place are carried out.

Do you think they'll actually do it?|||Definitely. Ferrari have dominated F1 for many years now purely because they have the financial strength and stability to put more money in than any other teams can (apart from maybe McLaren). If they are no longer allowed to buy success in such a way then the chances are they won't remain a dominant force and will quit the sport.|||I hope so|||No. They are just reacting to some ridiculous proposal and rightly so.

Neither Max or Bernie are stupid enough to let them leave. They will have to be a more realistic amount of money proposed and they all know that. -I hope!|||i think it's a shame really such a legendarily team,

stupid FIA!|||We can only hope they carry through on it and Leave.|||Ferrari said :-

" The same rules for all teams, stability of regulations, the continuity of the FOTA鈥檚 endeavours to methodically and progressively reduce costs, and governance of Formula One are the priorities for the future. If these indispensable principles are not respected and if the regulations adopted for 2010 will not change, then Ferrari does not intend to enter its cars in the next Formula One World Championship."

I take this to mean that Ferrari disagree with the 2 tier systen - not the budget cap - which it seems to reluctantly agree with.

I agree with Ferrari - a 2 tier system isn't worth taking part in, and from my own point of view - is not worth watching.|||I believe they will quit F1 if a budget cap of 拢40m did happen. It would be a great shame as the 2007 and 2008 seasons where Ferrari and Mclaren battled each other for the WDC was one of the two best seasons I have seen over the past few years.|||Yes, absolutly. There is even a small chance that we would not see them on the grid, even if the budget and 2 tier system is not brought in. They wont be the first team to take a break from F1 - radical idea i know.

Toyota have now jumpe on the band wagon - however this could be seen as an excuse, and they just wont out of the sport all together.

They Just have...look below.

Ferrari will leave, and should they do so, this will then be the time for Max and Bernie to hand over power. FOTA need more power and they need to keep their faces and comments from the papers/broadsheets and allow a relationship between FOTA and the FIA to build the sport in an appropriate manner placed on the recent evidence from the research.|||if the FIA doesnt change anything then yes they will because they dont know how to make a fast car with not much money and theyre wooses|||Ferrari is F1! Only team to have contested the very 1st GP at 1950 Silverstone|||Ferrari are now taking the FIA through the French courts as the agreement Ferrari race under (different to all other teams) states that they must be consulted on technical rule changes.|||I hope not. I am a Mclaren fan, but F1 without Ferrari just wouldn't be F1. F1 would be ruined without Ferrari. They have been there since the beginning, won more titles (I think) than any other team, and have the largest fanbase across many countries. They are the glamour team of F1 and without them F1 would lose its attraction and allure for many people. Max is going to ruin F1 if he gets his way and turn it into something indistinguishable from GP2 or the A1GP series. If Ferrari quit I won't watch F1 anymore. Apart from anything else without Ferrari - Mclaren's main adversary - who am I gonna love to hate if Ferrari aren't there! F1 without Ferrari would be like the Premier League without Man Utd. Love Man Utd or hate them English football would not be the same without them. And the same goes for F1 without Ferrari. It cannot be allowed to happen!

What other cars raced the ferrari 250gt in the 60s?

the ferrari raced the shelby daytona's in the 60's but what else? also i think it raced the db4's am i right?|||The main years for the 250 GT SWB were up through 1964 (with the 275 arriving in 1965). The early part of it's years it ran in the GT 3.0 class, and in many races it was the only car in it's class. Though it was still racing against other classes too, which would have included cars like the Maserati Tipo 63, Ferrari 250TR, and Aston Martin DB4 above it, and cars like the Porsche 718RSK, Porsche Abarth 356 GTL, and the Morgan +4 below it.

The classes would soon be consididated though, leading to the GT 3.0+ class, which then led to in class competition from the previoulsy mentioned Aston Martin DB4, as well as the Aston Martin DP214 and DBR. Other class competitors would include the Austin Healy 3000, Jaguar E-Type, AC Cobra, Shelby Daytona, and the Sunbeam Tiger. The occasional Corvette entry would have also been in the same class.

Due to the nature of competition in these years, it would also be possible to find all kinds of strange entries at any given race as manufacturing might lead a former prototype car to become a GT, and an engine change move it up or down in a class... so ultimately almost any sports racer of this era probably competed against these cars at some time or another.|||Don,t forget jaguar

What can I do now, to one day own a Ferrari?

Realistically, what steps should I take, starting now, to eventually own a Ferrari? I am currently in high school, I live in Minnesota, and have a job at culvers.|||Owning a Ferrari is not 9K a month. Its 2-3K a month on average. And thats for a newer one. Goto school and stay there then goto college. If you work hard enough you can get one. Its just a symbol of success.|||Culvers got some good-a$$ food my man!

Why would you want to own such a costy car?

First of all the monthly payment to own one is like 9k. Then you go the insurance which will be EXPENSIVE. Then you got the maintenance. Idk, it just seems to me like you will be paying 500k a year to own a car and for what? To show that you're better than everyone else?

Answer- You need to save EVERY dime you make. Instead of owning a car now, ride a bike. Find a way to open your own buisness of some-sort if that's possible.

All possibilities.|||JUst educate your self and become something you love , don't become a doctor just because of the money you won't last. Do something you will ove and it will take a while before you can afford a car like that, but the key word is patients!|||Start saving all your money.

It is often called the Ferrari plane because Piaggio Aero's chairman is Piero Ferrari, son of Enzo. He and a partner control 55% of the company's equity.

People who own Ferrari's, How many places can you take your car and not worry about it being vandalized?

I know cars like that are a 3rd or 4th car and that they are not daily drivers, but what kinds of places can you take them and not worry about them, I live in the phoenix metro area, so there is not a ton of them. I am looking at various models in automatic 3-5 years old.|||I would not take it to wal-mart or anything, usually I will take my 360 anywhere with valet parking, smile nice and tip the guy and they will take care of me.|||I don't concern myself with the prospect of potential "vandalism." What is insurance for? However, since the usual places I park (I'm in L.A.) provide valet service or have an underground garage, the car is hidden from view much of the time. For example, just as, say, an owner in NYC will regularly park his car on the street, I have no reservations about parking at a Ralph's or Vons, in front of my dry cleaner or at a neighborhood restaurant. The car inevitably draws attention (from teenage boys most of the time) but folks tend to exhibit restraint and do not touch the car. In fact, it is my 1997 Mercedes S420 that has been the real victim of so-called vandalism: someone broke the hood ornament off while it was parked outside Chili's in Huntington Beach in 2003. So, go figure...|||I have had my Nissan Skylines dented rocks thrown at it a scratch across the bonnet tyres let down drinks thrown at it.People shouting abuse at me and threatening me.

How is the Ferrari F40 one of the fastest cars in Gran Turismo 5?

All over the internet it is the third fastest car in the game, but i have lots of faster cars than it. Maybe I just didnt tune it right.|||Considering that the F40 is a twin turbo, aerodynamics that were way ahead of its time, and was essentially built for nothing more than going very fast, I'd say you don't have it tuned right. :)|||It's fast, but it was only the "fastest" car in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. In the full version of the game, there are a handful of cars that would beat it under most circumstances.

How much does an exhaust for a 2005 Ferrari 360 Cost?

My friend wants me to sell it for him? Its stock, Muffler and tips..|||Stock muffler and tips? About $600, on ebay! Aftermarket systems by TUBI, for example, are quite a bit more expensive...|||If you can afford a ferrari 360 you dint have to worrie about the cost of an exhaust.

But I would imagine about $9000 - $15000 they are made from Ceramic and stainless steel .|||My best bet to find out would be to ask a dealership that sells foreign cars or go to a mechanic and ask. Or just sell it on eBay.

Do you think ferrari need ross brawn and rory byrne back to design next year car?

and maybe some new drivers?

and if so which drivers should ferrari go for because KR and FM are ok from pole/ near the front, but seem to give up if they fall behind?|||A question for you, this season who is so great from behind? Its not just the driver's attitude, its a physical impossibility to overtake a matching machine this year. The Ferrari strategies havent really flopped this year, so maybe not Ross Brawn. The Ferraris have the faster cars (before anyone bashes me, take a look at the number of fastest laps this season) but this lasts only for a few laps. So maybe Rory Byrne could make a difference here, mabe just that fine touch, a few tenths faster every lap...

24fan, the "hack" hauled a car that he had driven just 3 practice laps to fifth in the grid and 3rd in the race. Kimi had his lapses, but recently he is making amends. In Monza we werent fast enough, it wasnt his fault. That was after a 300 kmph crash! So if Kimi can give the same commitment, I am happy with the present lineup.

But any day I'd join to say "Please Michael"|||Seems like Ross was the brains (or a major part of them), but what did he do that made the cars so reliable?|||yes there the men for the job|||Man I love this question. Yes if Honda or Toyota doesnt buy ross brawns services then jean todt and ferrari need him back. I also think they need to get rid of that hack of a driver they call kimi raikkonen. Kimi continues to prove that he cant focus on f1. I like Massa but he has had reliability problems all year. If Ferrari wants to win I would go after robert kubica or get on my knees and say 'PLEASE MICHAEL"|||The Ferrari camp is falling apart around their own ears this year, with terrible reliability and patchy performance.

As they will never be able to find an Italian engineer good enough, they certainly need Ross Brawn back in the fold.

As for drivers, apparently Jean Todt has been given a vast amount of money to entice Lewis Hamilton into the Ferrari team.|||Ferrari has proven to be as fast as Mc.Laren this year winning and losing in equal parts. The big problem has been reliability, and that is not part of the Ross Brown or Rory Byrne jobs.

Restoring a Ferrari F40, How much would it cost?

How much do you thing it takes to restore a 1992 Ferrari F40. It is in terrible condition, due to it having engine problems, making it burn the body down!! So how much do you think it would take if I was to pay a professional restorer to take on this project?|||Expect to pay around $200,000, as the F40 is a very rare exotic, its parts are scarce, and there are very few mechanics who can do an exemplary job. Good luck!

Hope this helps~~~|||Go for at least 250,000

Hard to find a pro now, as no one will pay that much anymore.

go sell the junkbox and get something else.

See, you basically are going to buy 70%-80% of a good F40 in separate pieces, wich is about 200,000 and up. then, some parts could find original, some not. originals are always expensive and may not work as well, though the cars value increases|||Currently the F40's are trading around $600,000, expect to invest around $160,000 to get it into top shape. Make sure you don't cheap out on the paint job, you will regret it later on. Don't rush it either, plan on it taking at least 6-8 weeks. Make sure the steering wheel and shifter are mint, any Ferrari enthusiast will not appreciate the car otherwise. Also, don't be afraid to spend $2,000 on new mats because they will definetely be worth it.|||About the same as the cost of the car when new.

Over 250,000.|||Since you want an expert and it's old and rare and from the sounds of it everything is destroyed then probably 300, 000 but if you are able to still drive it then it would be a bit less. By the way that car rocks!

Which car is better a viper or ferrari?

I think is ferrari because its really fast and stuff. But I really like the viper. I don't know which one to choose from. Any advice? Thanks dudes/ lady dudes.|||If you don't already know the answer to this then you don't deserve to be driving a Ferrari.|||farrari is far superior to the viper in almost every way except cost, hands down|||Better for what?

Which Ferrari? There are hundreds of different Ferraris.

A new Viper is less than half the price of a new Ferrari (the least expensive one).|||Believe it or not, Vipers are actually more fuel-efficient than most Ferraris. If that's a concern to you.. (which if you're buying these kinds of cars, I doubt...haha.)

Personally, I'd take the Viper. But that's because I've always been an American muscle fan, and I'd take torque and displacement over number of cylinders.

But in the end, it's really up to you. The Viper would probably go toe-to-toe with the Ferrari though..well..depends on what year/models we're speaking of.

Contrary to popular belief, a Ferrari aren't completely superior. A neighbor of mine had an '86 Corvette and an '87 Ferrari. Both drove well, but the Corvette was an all-around nicer car/better performer in my opinion. People just oogled over the Ferrari because of the name...|||vipers use less gas and cost less but in my opinion ferraris look cooler...|||There is no contest. A Viper is a very fast car, but it is crude, loud, uncomfortable, cheaply made, and handles like a pig. The real wheels can't get traction most of the time because the engine's torque is so out of balance with it's traction.

The Ferrari F430 (for example) is probably the best sports car in the world. It is superior to the Viper in every way.

There have been some instances though where Ferrari have made cars that were sold only to people that were invited by the factory. The most recent large scale case was with the Enzo, which requried (as I recall) that potential purchasers already owned two or more Ferraris and were recommended to the factory by their dealer (or already known to the factory).

In the case of one off specials... such as resale of F1 cars and the like, these are sold only by invitation to people known by the factory (and such sales include confidentiality clauses along with many other special stipulations in the sales agreement).

How much does insurance cost on a Ferrari?

I've always wondered what the cost of insurance would be for a $250k car such as a Ferrari F430.

How can I go about getting a ferrari financed???

So i would like to lease/own a Ferrari. I really dont care which one just as long as I have one. If anyone has any suggesstions please let me know. Thanks alot. I'd really appreciate it if someone knowledgable can answer. Please dont answer if you are going to mention one of the followin:

search engines, cars.com, autotrader.com, credit Unitons.

If someone has concrete knowledge, please let me know. thnx|||As some have pointed out, if you are looking into something like this and have no idea where to start, there is a really good chance you are considering something well outside of your reach. And worse, even if you can afford the car, you may be getting in way over your head in terms of affording ownership... but let's indulge the question.

Leasing: Ferrari offers leasing, and there are other options here too. A lease on a F430 will be a little less than $4000 a month. So, between the lease cost, tax and registration, insurance and maintanance, figure you will need to have about $57k a year to dedicate to just the car. If you go further up the product line you'll see a similar increase in lease cost.

Buying: There will be more options here as you can consider used cars, but there is still going to be a lot of expense. While it may be hard to find, for a nice easy number let's say you have found a F360 Coupe for $100k... you'll need a down payment of about $20k financing either through Ferrari (not the best choice) or through your bank. You'll need to keep to about a 36 month loan for a used car, which will give you a monthly payment of about $2800. Figure you'll need about $38-40k per year for payments, insurance, and maintenance (gas will be extra).

In either case, also figure the cost of a daily driver since Ferrari does not make a car suited to this. And keep in mind that performance tires for a car like this will run about $4k a set, and if you drive the car at all, you will go through them every 1-2 years.

So, back to the question... how do you go about getting one financed? First, you need to make enough money for someone to consider giving you a loan. To safely be in this area, will most likely need to be making 3-4 times your yearly payments (so about $100k minumum for the previously mentioned $100k car, ideally more). And you will need to have a good down payment, the larger the better.

Leasing will require less of an initial payment, but ultimately it will require more income (though you will only pay tax on the car's devaluation over the life of the lease).

If you have the down payment, monthly income, and at least one year of time into your current source of cash flow (likely your job), and there are no major blemishes on your credit record, then you'll receive a loan and can buy the car.

Check with the local chapter of your Ferrari club for the best info on where to check for cars, or simply head out to a Ferrari Dealer (you can get the club magainze Forza at most Barnes %26amp; Noble stores, and there are dealer directories in there as I recall... and lots of ads for car brokers that sell Ferraris as well).|||If you do not know how to arrange finance yourself or cannot find out how to do it, it says two things篓

1: You cannot afford it.

2: Your brain is not nimble enough to handle driving one safely!!!!!|||Ferrari dealerships offer financing and leasing. However, the interest rates tend to be very high (11% or so). Going with your local bank is the best bet. You can usually get a rate of 6-8% with your good credit. When I finance a car, I do it through the bank. You also have a working relationship with them, so you don't have to worry as much about scams/to-good-to-be-true offers that you see on the web. If you don' t have sparkling credit, then I'd avoid financing this type of car. You'll usually wind up losing it or paying many thousands in extra fees. Best of luck.

P.S. On a newer Ferrari, you'll often be looking at payments in the $1500-$4500 range, depending on how much you put down, and which car you choose.|||ydontufinanceahomeinstead.com|||i agree with david. if you don't know the means in which to finance at least 200,000, you really can't afford it. and your not sure whether to lease or own, you really have no business considering a ferrari.|||have you checked out DupontRegistry.com? along with the luxury cars they list for sale you see ads for luxury auto finance companies that specialize in doing luxe loans on high end cars.|||Firstly you're going to have to earn enough money to pay the monthly bill. Second you're going to have to have good enough credit to warrant borrowing the sort of money a Ferrari costs.

I'm not really sure if Ferrari has a finance manager you can talk to in their showrooms ( never having been into one ) but if they do and you have the first two, then talk to them. Basically you would finance or lease a Ferrari the same way you would any other car.|||If you have to ask how to finance a Ferrari, you should definitely not be getting one.

Ferrari's are for Rich people that can afford to pay cash for one. Not sure how old you are, but think about your future.

You don't want a $2,000/Month car payment for 15-20 years.

Why are people hating on the Ferrari California?

ive read some articles and the writers said its like an un-traditional ferrari and thats its "ugly" and unfast. they are super wrong. Some of us would be very thankful for even like a new car in this economy. They dont have to be snobby.|||The back is ugly, and it is the slowest new Ferrari.

Plus it is named California.

Ferrari's are named after Italian Cities and people, not American States.|||i'm a long time Ferrari fan and always will be. I think the California will be a fantastic car, Ferraris usually are. i like that it's as versatile as it is, whether it's able to be used as a daily driver or not, a Ferrari is a Ferrari and they're all special. i tend to like better the ones that are more specialized and thus make them more of an event to drive. driving even a special car on every day duties makes it seem more like a normal car. as far as looks go, it's not drop dead gorgeous like the original Californias, but in my opinion, Ferrari hasn't made a truly pretty car since the F355. lately, Ferrari's seem to have adopted the same company "face" across the model range much like other car companies do. despite initial observations, every time a new Ferrari comes out, even if the testers all say it isn't the best looking Ferrari of all time, it always ends up being phenominal at whatever it was designed to do, whether it be race around a track, or eat up long distances in style.|||Because it is a hard top. What is the best Ferrari in terms of everyday living and performance?

I'm looking in the cost area of 40 to 50K and whats the best way to get value and practical motoring especially in terms of cost and ease of use.

Any help on this matter will be gladly appreciated?|||A Ferrari is a great car, it's a fun car... in fact, there are alot of positive things that can be said about it! But value and practical are two terms that will be hard to apply in any way other than as relative.

The first thing that should be said when looking at a used Ferrari is to keep in mind, that while such a car may look attractively priced nowadays, that the cost of ownership is going to be much more similar to what the car cost when new! That is, if you find a used Ferrari that you love for $40k, do not expect it's cost of ownership to be similar to that of a new $40k Lexus or even a used $40k Porsche. It will be similar to a new Ferrari (basic maintenance will run $2-3k annually).

They are reliable cars for what they are, but when something fails, expect it to be VERY expensive. Insurance costs will be high. Tires that are appropriate for these cars are costly and will not last long. If budget is a major concern, these are not the right cars.

So with that out of the way, a $40-50k budget will really keep things to a couple models. Mainly the 328 and 308 (probably find these for less as well)... you might find a 348 or 512TR in this range too.

In terms of value as far as holding it's value, cars that are at or near the bottom of their devaluation curve, or ones that may be rare or achieve greater favor among collectors in the future would be most attractive. Along those lines, I think the early 308 models (especailly the fiberglass bodies with carbs) may be the most attractive. Later 308s are near the bottom of their cost curve, but will most likely never become more desirable based just on the sheer number produced. The 512TR (and the earlier version as well) is likely close to the bottom of it's value, and as the last 12 cylinder midengined car, one that may finally be starting to overcome it's late 80s/miami vice/so-copied identity. However, both of these cars are potential problem children that may present problems in terms of relative practicality and value of ownership.

For that, the more common the car, and the later, would generally be better - in this case best represented by the late 328 and 348. They are more evolved than the early 308, more likely to have some part equalivents from Fiat models, and are a bit more reliable.|||2007 Ferrari 599GTB Fiorano|||Hi scottygarside,
